June at the STL CW

We have a lot going on in June! Check out next month’s happenings below and plan on joining us for one of our regular get-togethers at 8617 Mora Ln!

Community Prayer
Wednesday June 4th, 6 PM
Join us for this welcoming and informal time of bringing our joys and concerns to the creator and community.

The Serviceberry - Clarification of Thought Book Club
Thursday June 12th, 6 PM
Read the book or just show up to hear the conversation. This month’s clarification of thought topic will center on Braiding Sweetgrass author Robin Wall Kimmerer’s The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World. From the cover:
The serviceberry’s relationship with the natural world is an embodiment of reciprocity, interconnectedness, and gratitude. The tree distributes its wealth—its abundance of sweet, juicy berries—to meet the needs of its natural community. And this distribution ensures its own survival. As Kimmerer explains, ‘Serviceberries show us another model, one based upon reciprocity, where wealth comes from the quality of your relationships, not from the illusion of self-sufficiency.’

Potluck
Sunday June 29th, 5 PM
You can bring a friend or a dish to share, we just hope to see you there.

Upcoming Work Days
June 15th and 29th, 1:30PM
We’ll be catching up on some projects around the community house next month and invite anyone with some extra energy to help us with tasks like building basement shelving and painting our porch. Our work days will start at 1:30 on Sundays June 15th and 29th. You may have noticed the 29th is also the date of our June potluck, we’ll be hanging out working on stuff up until then.

Clarification of Thought: The Economy of Francis

Join us Monday November 18 at 6 PM as we discuss The Economy of Francis document ( found here ). The authors hope to "propose a vision that we consider in tune with the radical nature of [Pope Francis'] teachings and the revolutionary nature of Christian faith. We also want to collaborate in creating and demonstrating alternative experiences of living and working that allow us to make use of the goods of nature in ways that respond, not to the logic of the god money, but to our people’s need to live well." You might also want to check out the Message from Pope Francis on the Occasion of the Fourth World Meeting of Popular Movements ( found here ) in preparation for the discussion. No time for reading?
